Description:

Large black bird with a featherless red head. This bird can be seen circling effortlessly overhead near roads, highways and fields.

Habitat:

Woodland edges but mostly open areas in search of carrion.

Notes:

This bird is becoming more and more common in central Illinois during the warmer months.
