American Green Tree Frog

Hyla cinerea

Description:

2-2.5 inch green frog with white line running from mouth to groin. Neon yellow flecks dorsally present.

Habitat:

While doing a neighborhood cleanup (I'm not sure why people can't learn to use a trash can), I spotted this guy on some soggy cardboard boxes near a ditch (mixed hardwood forest nearby). It was quite cold out (we had just recently had a freeze warning). Seemed to be basking in the intermittent sunlight.

@MelindaKiser From what I have read, it is a fairly common feature of Hyla cinerea. I'm not sure the exact reason for this variation, however.

Great photos! I love Hyla cinerea! I was curious if anyone knew what the yellow spots are on it. I had never seen that on them before.
