Oriental Magpie Robin (female) with katydid

Copsychus saularis

Description:

The female's plumage is a faded black (in contrast to the jet black of the male.)

Habitat:

My rooftop terrace where it comes everyday for biscuit crumbs. That day it decided that it wanted to go for a protein-rich breakfast and avoid the carb load. The large katydid must have just moulted...it was white...and moments later a Jungle babbler caught a green katydid...bad day for katydids.

Notes:

This bird loves to bathe...it is a joy to see it splashing about in the birdbath. Constant competition between this one and the red-vented bulbuls to monopolise the bath.
