This fluffy fella is common African weaver named Northern Red Bishop, a sparrow sized stocky and attractive bird. Portrayed here is a male in its full breeding attire - distinctively bright orange-red bird with black face and front, and black waistband.
This is resident breeding species in much of the belt south of Sahara and north of Equator, in open spaces and close to water. Here, observed in rural areas of Niger State of Nigeria, close to rivers and cultivated lands.
