Description:

Outer part of the flower has a pouch-like structure with a long spur. It has an orange color and red-orange flecks. It has weak, watery stems and alternately-arranged, oval shaped leaves.

Habitat:

Spotted near Pine Lake on Hwy. 29. It grows in moist areas along forested edges of marshes and lakes.

Notes:

Hummingbirds, bumblebees, and butterflies are attracted to the flowers. Used in Native American medicine for poison ivy, relieve itching and pain.
