Outer part of the flower has a pouch-like structure with a long spur. It has an orange color and red-orange flecks. It has weak, watery stems and alternately-arranged, oval shaped leaves.
Spotted near Pine Lake on Hwy. 29. It grows in moist areas along forested edges of marshes and lakes.
Hummingbirds, bumblebees, and butterflies are attracted to the flowers. Used in Native American medicine for poison ivy, relieve itching and pain.
