A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Haliaeetus leucocephalus
USA national bird: a large eagle with iconic white head and tail, that lives primarily on fish and was nearly destroyed due to usage of ddt and is now making a come back
In a city park at the edge of the willamette river in Oregon Hundreds of people come to watch the chicks daily, viewing from walking paths through the trees. Without some helpful birder to guide newcomers, the nest would remain largely hidden. Note last photo
The eaglets went from newly hatched and barely able to hold their heads up to almost fledged in one month. One chick didn't survive, but the pair raised two this far. The following earlier sightings show not only the tiny chicks but scenes from the surrounding city as well http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/103... http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/103...
