i've long second guessed myself about this being a dobsonfly, due to the feathery antennae which dobsonflies lack. thank you for your sugesstion
This is a beautiful find! Do you have any views with the whole body? I am fairly certain that this is actually a species of Fishfly (either a Spring Fishfly or a Summer Fishfly). The Spring and Summer Fishflies are very similar looking with slight color variation on the head and thorax mainly and have some overlap in flying time. Check out this link to compare to yours.
