Red-breasted Parakeet

Psittacula alexandri

Description:

Large red bill, pinkish breast, green body, black collar and loral line, lilac grey crown, flying in noisy flocks.

Habitat:

Jungle around Ta Prohm temple, Siem Reap, Camboida -lots of visitors and construction work. Some birds visiting nest holes, but breeding not confirmed by me.

Notes:

Status is Near Threatened for some races. Feral populations have been established in some cities, including Phnom Penh where I saw a pair for several days around our neighbourhood communication tower. The population at Ta Prohm is wild.
