1) Looks like a fly. 2) Golden/Yellow in colour. 3) Feeds on dung.
So I typed in Golden Dung Fly and see what I got!
Scathophaga stercoraria (Common Yellow Dung Fly)
Apparently ALSO found in Alaska.
Worth a check??
