Striped Horse Fly (Male)

Tabanus lineola

Description:

Strange looking fly. Eyes looked wonderful with a reflective dull yellow. Same color stripe down center of back and on middle of all six legs.

Habitat:

Pictures taken from atop a Red Rider wagon. It was found and stayed on this until it started to rain.

Notes:

A little less than an inch in length.

I was also thinking horse fly, but didn't want to sound bad if that isn't a common name for them in other places. XD Wasn't for sure if that was a nickname or not.

looks like a horse fly to me. not sure which species though. Very neat colors though!
