Gallinula chloropus
Brown dark plumage, yellow legs with a red & yellow beak and red shield. The young (pic #2) are browner and lack the red shield.
Spotted at an urban park in Milan, Italy. This is a common breeding bird in marsh environments, well-vegetated lakes and even in city parks. Populations in areas where the waters freeze, such as eastern Europe, will migrate to more temperate climes.
