Falco sparverius
A small falcon that prefers to hover over prey before making its kill.
Grasslands and open fields.
One of the few times I've captured this bird on a natural perch. Typically, I'll find them on posts and signs around the refuge.

Emily, you did not insult me! I'm flattered that you are interested enough in my work to even ask the question. I usually think of touch ups as those made to human portrait photography but I guess it is all semantics! Thank you for your interest and nice comments!
I hope I didn't insult you Dennis by calling them "touch ups"! That certainly wasn't my intention! Enhancement is most definitely a better term for what I meant! Regardless, I'm a big fan of your work. Beautiful stuff!
Lovely!
I like the fact that you do not lure your object with food.
Thank you, Emily, naturalist, and Emma, for your kind comments. Emily, I shoot in RAW format, which requires at least some enhancements in post processing. RAW images are not intended to be final when they come out of the camera. I'm not sure I would call my post processing "touch ups," but rather "enhancements" to give the image the most impact possible. Thanks for the question!
Your photos are just stunning Dennis! Do you do any touch up after the fact?! Either way, your photos are wonderful!
Great sighting.
Beautiful, Dennis!! As Always!
