Sometimes called a 'Bull' snake which is considered a subspecies ~ this critter likes to warm itself on pavement ~ inviting certain death ~ but this is a Big snake maybe 6 feet long so it has been around awhile ~ hopefully eating Starling eggs and constricting rodents.

Habitat:

Grassy Plains, Cottonwood trees, rocky flats, reparian river areas and ranch houses.

Notes:

spotted and sent to the curb ! after leaving Bowdoin Nat'l Wildlife Reserve on a fabulous birding adventure on the Auto Tour.
