Description:

One of the largest in the Geometer family of moths. Color variable. 43-55 mm wingspan (1.75 - 2.16 inches). Larvae feeds on Magnolia, Populus, Sassafras to name just a few.

Habitat:

Nocturnal - attracted to light - Near woodlands and meadow in the Poconos, PA - North American New England to Florida and west to Texas.

I had no idea this was a Geometer! I am glad that I decided to peruse your spottings. I spotted one of these on my camping trip and had not had the opportunity to ID it yet. :)
