Leaf beetle

Paropsisterna hectica

Description:

A golden leaf beetle with some variable red color along the suture of the elytra. There were several found together including a plain green form looking like Paropsisterna hectica and this golden beetle looking like the Tasmanian Pariopsisterna aurea. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/117...

Habitat:

On short eucalyptus on a bushy hilltop. The very short eucalyptus look like snow gums from Alpine regions where we found only the green form, Paropsisterna hectica.

Notes:

I am really quite excited by this find so I have given it two spots, with an example of more red markings and less red markings. and suspect it is P. aurea. I will attempt to verify the correct ID.

This appears to be P. hectica based on discussions with Chris Reid.
