Chacma baboon

Papio ursinus

Description:

Also known as the Cape baboon, they are distinct from northern baboons because they do not have a mane. They have caused chaos in the Cape Peninsula, which has helped with job creation as the region now employees baboon guards to monitor their activities and protect them from retaliating humans.

Habitat:

This large male was happily sleeping on the side of the road under the watchful eye of a female baboon and a couple baboon guards.

Notes:

In one photo you can see this male's tracking device.
