Chocolate Lily

Fritillaria lanceolata

Description:

Fritillaria lanceolata is a perennial in the Liliaceae (Lily) family. It is known for its chocolate colored flowers.

Habitat:

This lily grows in moist open spaces like meadows, streambanks and even edges of salt marshes or shorelines. It is found from sea level up to subalpine areas.

Notes:

The bulbs if Chocolate Lily were eaten by many Northwest Coast peoples.
