Bee Killer Assassin Bug

Apiomerus flaviventris

Description:

Big bad "Bee-Killer" Assassin Bug, 2 cm long. Strong and powerful with bright black and red warning coloration. The legs are hairy, especially the tibiae of the first two pairs of legs. Family Reduviidae.

Habitat:

On a bush along the highway between San Cristobal and Tuxtla Gutierrez, km 18.5, 1164 meters elevation.

Notes:

For Bayucca, no yellow on the underside of the abdomen, something you asked me about in the past…..
