Bald Eagle - 3rd Year

Haliaeetus leucocephalus

See spotting: for description of adult. This 3rd year is finally getting its white head and tail but still has the dark beak. Much more wary of me than the adult.

This immature kept flying from tree to tree along the path I was walking on - must have been where he wanted to spend the night. I was on a dike trail so not way I could avoid him, but he wasn't going to go very far away, just keep a distance between us. This is on a dike between Katzie Slough and the marshes to the south and west of it.
