Bald Eagle - 3rd Year

Haliaeetus leucocephalus

Description:

See spotting: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/117... for description of adult. This 3rd year is finally getting its white head and tail but still has the dark beak. Much more wary of me than the adult.

Habitat:

This immature kept flying from tree to tree along the path I was walking on - must have been where he wanted to spend the night. I was on a dike trail so not way I could avoid him, but he wasn't going to go very far away, just keep a distance between us. This is on a dike between Katzie Slough and the marshes to the south and west of it.
