Northern Red Bishop

Euplectes franciscanus

Description:

This is common African weaver, a sparrow sized stocky bird. Portrayed here is breeding male - distinctively bright orange-red bird with black face and crown, and black waistband.

Habitat:

This is resident breeding species in much of the belt south of Sahara and north of Equator, in open spaces and close to water. Here, observed in urban setting of Abuja, in a popular resort in central part of town.
