Wasp moth

Arctiinae

Description:

Adults are black with yellow bands across the abdomen, and transparent windows in the wings, the speciment spotted has completelly yellow spots instead. It is a wasp mimic Amata huebneri is a species of moth in the genus Amata of the family Erebidae, subfamily Arctiinae.

Habitat:

Highland forest. Spotted at Tana Toraja - Central Sulawesi, it can be also found from the Indo Australian Tropics to northern Australia

Notes:

Typically most of the wasp moth I spotted before shows transparent spots on the wings but this one has completely yellow spots. The larvae feed on Oryza sativa.

Hi Subhasinie, I also spotted many of them in Malaysia and Indonesia, but this was the very first time I saw one with the completely yellow patches, I revised the original pics and all of them shows clearly the yellow spots, just added a detail pic, if you find a more detailed ID, please share.

It's an interesting sighting to be looked for. Amata sp. Ihave seen in Sri Lanka have white patches (windows) in black wings. This is the first time I saw one with yellow wing patches. Would like to know the species identification.
