Rustic Bunting

Emberiza rustica

Description:

Long distant winter vagrant.
Pointed bill, white underneath with some streaking on the flanks and chest in a V shape. Creamy color face and throat with brown mask and brown crest. Dark and light brown on back and wings. Almost smaller then the Juncos.

Habitat:

Found in Golden Gate park near Cypress trees. Prefered to be with a flock of Dark-eyed Juncos and a few other sparrows but stayed away from the flock of just sparrows.

Notes:

Sorry about the blurry pictures. Normally found in northern Europe and Asia and winters in Japan and China. This one prefered to be with a flock of Dark-eyed Juncos and a few other sparrows but stayed away from a flock of just sparrows. When it rousted it stayed high in the tree by itself.
