Red-Backed Poison Frog

Ranitomeya reticulatus

Description:

Diminuative poison arrow frog in the Dendrobatidae family... see picture with hand for perspective (only 1/2 - 3/4") (1.25 - 2.0cm). Brillian red back and top of head with black and white mottled legs.

Habitat:

Leaf litter and terre firma in the Peruvian rainforest. This one was in the National Reserve Allpahuayo-Mishana about 23 miles south west of Iquitos.
