Orb weaver spider

Eriophora sp.

Description:

This spider had created a typical orb web between some native shrubs. About 40mm long including legs. I particularly liked the orange patterned abdomen.

Habitat:

In an outer urban back yard.

Notes:

Yet to determine species - probably E.transmarina. Variability is huge. http://bie.ala.org.au/species/urn:lsid:b...

Thanks James.. yes I fell in love with that yellow furry stuff. They vary so much I'm never sure it's this genus until I compare it on the web. Have a great holiday season. We'll be quiet for a couple of weeks.
