While snapping moths at midnight this butterfly landed in front of me as if to say 'Forget them... snap me' So I did.

Habitat:

Under lights at the local school.

Thanks Mark, no worries. This was more for my own education... while I can pick those up from V. cardui quite easily on the dorsal view with 3 of the ocelli on the hindwings with striking blue centres and the blackish apex confluent with the 4th ocellus, I struggle with the cryptic underside. I need tor research specific criteria online, would appreciate if you or anybody else have any (my Australian butterflies book was left... in Australia. Ha!)
