You're welcome! I used to wonder what those trees were too. They look similar to Walnut, so I'd get confused by those leaves!

looks like Stag horn Sumac. In the case of Tree Of heaven ,each leaflet in the compound Leaf has a tooth. In this case the entire margin of the leaf seems crenated.

Wish there were more pictures, but it looks to me like Tree of Heaven, Alianthus altissima. It was introduced into California from China during the gold rush and has since spread all over the state. It grows like a weed in the central valley.
