Description:

Life cycle of Gulf Fritillary butterfly. 1.Laying egg 2.Egg 3.Caterpillar 4. Cocoon 5. Emergence

Habitat:

Open, sunny areas. Grasslands, parks and woodlands. A common butterfly seen in local gardens across the U.S.

Notes:

I plant passion vines every year to attract these beautiful butterflies. This year I had over 70 cocoons under the eave of my house. I shared the experience with many children who are home schooled.
