White-lined Sphinx Moth Caterpillar

Hyles Lineata

Description:

Bright green caterpillar with bright orange spots along the sides. The spots are outlined in black. The head is bright green and the anal plate is orange. Both have tiny light colored spots on them. The horn is black. This species is highly variable in appearance. Even on the same plant, they can vary a lot. See Notes below

Habitat:

Deerweed in Sage Scrub habitat
