Chrysina beyeri

Description:

The genus Chrysina includes 95 species (Hawks 2001), most occur in Mexico though the genus ranges from the southwestern United States to northern South America. The genus is distributed from the southern United States of America(Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas) through Mexico, Central America to Colombia and Ecuador (Morón1990). The greatest number of species in the genus occurs in Mexico (56 species) followed by Guate-mala ( 24 species) and Costa Rica (21 species).

Habitat:

Beyer's scarabs are herbivores of oak trees in the mountains of Ixtlán de Juárez, Oaxaca
