Description:

Photo take in my back yard this is know as Palma de Chit by the local people is been use for hundreds of years by the Mayan people to cover the roofs if the palapas or cabins the trunk is about 10 cm in diameter it can grow up to 6-7 mt it has really big leas about 70-90 cm diameter they still use to cover roofs today. It flowered from May to June a cream color flowers this become in small white fruits about 1 cm diameter by many.

Habitat:

Is found on mangrove areas and coast lines and subtropical forest fund from México to Honduras including some Caribbean Islands.

Notes:

This is an endangered species it should be protected.
