Wingless assassin bug

Description:

Black bug hibernating under a log. It has the profile of an assassin bug. This may be a late (fifth?) instar or an adult wingless species. Wingless adults (Ground assassin bugs) are known to exist and this may be one ? http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_...

Habitat:

Hibernating under a log

Notes:

The habitat and weather were both dark so the pic is rather blurry :(

He's not going to win any 'pretty' awards but nice to know where they go in winter.

I used to live near the location in which this was taken! Good find!
