The White Ermine Moth

Spilosoma lubricipeda

Description:

Found in the mountains of Banaue, Mt. Province. Looks like a cross between a common grasshopper and a moth. Color white with spots of brown and black. Apparently I read they are poisonous.

Habitat:

Land, forest

Notes:

Thanks to JanetEllis for the ID. Spotted this during my trip at Mt. Province.

Ok still don't see where they are spotted where you were but I guess being rare there it's a nuisance in other places. Example of what they do.

Looks like a White Ermine Moth but don't see it being any found in the Philippines. You may want to report that finding.
