Description:

Large green short horned grasshopper. This grasshopper actually grows between 3-4 inches and coloration varies between, yellow, black, white, gray (common), orange, and tan sand. The wings expand to more than half its body length and is a very strong flier.

Habitat:

Ornamental grasses in a garden.

Notes:

Schistocerca, commonly called bird grasshoppers, is a genus of grasshoppers, many of which swarm as locusts.
