moth

Description:

about 1.5", maybe a type of snout moth?

Habitat:

Carolinian forest, shore of Lake Erie

Notes:

I spotted this moth at the privately owned conservation area Marcy's Woods. It was my first time there and I got some cool spottings. This moth flew away a second after I took the close up of it from the side.

Thanks, you're probably right on the ID, now just to search the genus.

Great capture... I love these snouty tiny Moths...their eyes look like pearls... what make them very beautiful... Mostly in Pyralidae subfamily.

Thanks Keith. I borrowed an ID guide to moths from the Niagara Parks School of Horticulture. I can start there to look for it.
