Mountain Bluebird

Sialia currucoides

Description:

Mountain bluebird males are a vibrant blue color as shown in the photograph. Females are duller with a light blue wash over their bodies.

Habitat:

Open rangeland and open mountain forests stretching from southern Alaska south into Mexico along the Rocky Mountains.

Notes:

There were a number of mountain bluebirds in the area around Old Faithful Geyser. This one was sitting on the edge of the Old Faithful Inn's roof.
