Description:

It is a large evergreen conifer typically reaching 35 - 45 meters tall. It generally lives over 500 years and can live over 1200 years. The bark on young trees is smooth, thin, and gray with resin blisters. The bark is moderately thick and corky on mature trees. The buds are narrow and conic, about 3-6 mm long.

Habitat:

It is native to the interior mountainous regions of western North America. It lives in an altitude range of 600m - 3000m.
