Actually, now that I look closer, Texas has four species of Latrodectus: northern black widow, southern black widow, western black widow, and the brown widow (looks much different than the other 3).
3 different Latrodectus species occur in Texas, and since all 3 are fairly similar at a glance, I don't feel like I can take this ID any further than genus level.
