A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Chrysopidae sp.
A group of the lacewing eggs have hatched. There have been at least 3 species of lacewing observed in the garden this year, so I am uncertain as to which species these are. This may become apparent as the larvae mature. These larvae will feed on aphids and other soft bodied pests on the Kniphofia uvaria (torch lily), where the eggs were laid. There does not appear to be an abundance of pests on this plant, so hopefully they will have sufficient food to develop into adulthood.
Throughout North America north of Mexico. meadows, fields with low vegetation.
