Rose Breasted Grosbeak

Pheucticus ludovicianus

Description:

Immature Grosbeak at the feeder, his mom and dad have been in and out as well however, this is the only young one that I've seen this year. This little male has been quite the little entertainer. He seems to understand that there is a barrier between him and the house (the bay window). He flies to the window and flies up and down and back and forth trying to find a way into the house. The third picture is of this behavior, it's the clearest as it's super hard to stop action and focus manually on a bird moving as fast and sporadic as this one. :-)

Habitat:

Breeds in deciduous and mixed woodlands, especially at the edges, second-growth woodlands, orchards, suburban parks and gardens. Winters in open tropical forest
