American Pipit

Anthus rubescens

Description:

Wintering bird for this area and breeds in the colder areas of northern American and Canada. Similar to the thrushes. Brown streaks down the neck and chest, light colored strips on face. Thin bill and medium long legs and tail. Blends in well with it's habitat. Searching for insects and bobbing it's tail.

Habitat:

Found in flat, low grassy fields. This and others in the area could be found on the reclaimed landfills and found in rocky shores of the bay.

Notes:

First time I've seen one on a path it was slapping a grub on the ground.
