A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Agraulis vanillae
This female is laying eggs on the Passionvine. The bright silver spots of the underwing are very visible. Gulf Fritillaries lay individual cream to orange eggs, usually near young tips that will be tender when the caterpillars hatch.
Passionvine grows wild throughout the yard.
The garden is about half an acre of native plants specifically planted for wildlife. The main water source is a pond that is filtered by two gravel streams. It is on a peninsula by Lake Lewisville, TX.
