Onthophagus hecate

Description:

About 7mm long. Head, pronotum, and elytra are black. Pronotum is large with a medial horn-like projection extending over the head. Elytra are short, rounded and slightly striated and cover the entire abdomen. Scutellum absent or greatly reduced. Undersides of body are sparsely covered with short white setae.

Habitat:

Open grasslands in a predominantly rural area. This beetle was found inside horse dung.
