Graphocephalea coccinea
Scarlet Green leafhopper 8-9mm (1/8 - 1-4in)
Have 2 broods a year. Eat sap from weedy vines and cultivated shrubs, plants such as roses and rhododendrons. Egg-laying and larval stages can cause misshapen leaves in spring.
Now that our sunflowers are starting to shoot up since it's hot, the bugs are finding them useful places for hiding, hunting, and safety.

WOW!!!
That leafhopper is so brightly colored I would have expected it to come from somewhere tropical, not our own U.S. Great macro shot.
