Eastern Forktail

Ischnura verticalis

Notes:

Either Eastern Forktail or Rambur's Forktail. I have trouble finding the difference! Rescued to safety from the pool.

Hello Christine! I think you are absolutely correct. I noticed Rambur's seemed to have a light-brown to yellow underside, while the Eastern Forktail seems to have no special colored underside. Thanks again, Christine!

Hi there! I'm putting my comment down here to explain why I think what I do: Looking at the tail tip design from both species, I'd put my money on an Eastern Forktail. Here's the Bug Guide link for Eastern: http://bugguide.net/node/view/35981 and here's the Bug Guide for Rambur's http://bugguide.net/node/view/78289 Just look at the pattern of the last two segments of the tail, and that should help clear up your confusion.
