Soldier Beetle

Ichthyurus sp

Description:

Ten segments plus a base segment to the antennae and the mouth parts would indicate that it is not a true bug. The rear claspers are quite prominent.

There appear to be plates forming at the root of the wings, so could be a juvenile of something, but I really have no idea what. Any help appreciated.

Habitat:

Adjacent to a small stream. Altitude 1000m.

Notes:

Thanks to Mark Ridgway for the ID.
