I agree, need every day make a defragmentation of memory :) I have some knowledge in every part of biology, best know plants and butterflies, I'm biologist and teaching biology and chemistry.
I still have problems with some birds, while others I can go straight down to sub-species. It's a long learning process and it gets longer as you get older. I think our brains are like hard disks, when they become full you cannot get any more in and it gets difficult to find what is already in there!
wow, that's great, I'm impressed! I noticed that you have a lot of knowledge about birds, I'm learning about ID them...I'm familiar with families, but don't know identify birds at species level. I have to look these days all your spottings...
I use books for all the birds , I have lots from many parts of the world which I have visited. Other than that I have a pocket book for Moths & Butterflies, a Mammals book for Africa and a wildlife book for British Isles which is good for much of Europe but I have nothing comprehensive!
You're welcome :) I search ID for butterflies in book, too, mine has description, distribution and pictures of butterflies of Europe, it's easier than search on internet :)
Hi, Malcolm, I noticed that this butterfly has different underwing pattern than Small blue, and looked in my Field guide. This should be Zizeeria knysna or African grass blue, it has distribution area in North Africa and coastal parts of Spain...take a look this photo: http://www.flickr.com/photos/36957343@N0...
