Mourning Cloak Butterfly

Description:

2,5 inch wingspan.Markings as shown in attached photos.

Habitat:

This species was spotted in the Pahranagat Wildlife Preserve in Nevada. It was mostly found in dried leaves and plants in Pahranagat...which is bounded by both the Mojave and Great Basin deserts. It was in a damp, riparian area. Adults have been seen in late winter, and early spring.
