Description:

Small orange and yellow butterfly flitting among the wildflowers of the Flint Hills. About the size of a 50 cent piece (Roughly 1-2 inches).

Habitat:

Rocky terrain along with native prairie grass and wild flowers. Summer temperature around 85 F.

Yes, Variegated Fritillary. The black-bordered light spot near the leading edge of the forewing distinguishes this from other fritillaries.
