Description:

Small, well-known mountain flower, belonging to the sunflower family. The common name comes from German edel, meaning "noble", and weiß "white", thus signifying "noble whiteness".

Habitat:

Rocky environments, mountainsides, mostly on higher altitudes.

Notes:

Edelweiss is a protected plant in many countries.
