Mallard duck

Description:

Mallard ducks are very widespread and one of the most recognizable species. The males have a characteristic green head while the females are mottled brown.

Habitat:

Mallard ducks live in ponds: these two ducks were spotted at the duck pond near Budewig Intermediate School.

Notes:

There were several females at the pond but only one male.
